INTERGENERATIONALITY

We have a new project and we would like to share it with you! The Centro is a paroquial social institution, combining a day care centre and an old people's home, where Melanie was hired to make a photo album of the toddlers and Gretel to plant a nice little garden with the old people.

We go way back with the Centro. Eversince we arrived we take our lunch there with the employees who are hilarious, dynamic and a bit crazy :). So, it is an hour full of great food - that we are immensely grateful for to the best cooks in Portugal, Berta e Jacinta - fun stories, gossip on the rich and famous, laughter and the Portuguese tradition of being together at lunch at its best. Now they also wanted to incorporate us in their work and thought of some activites we could help them with, and we had a lot of fun taking walks on the beach, singing songs for the Sardinhada, celebrating the Grandparents Day in Santoinho, a typical site of the Minho region, making Viana hearts and just being part of this intergenerational encounter.

Temos um novo projeto e gostaríamos de partilhar com vocês! O Centro é uma instituição social paroquial, combinando uma creche e um lar de idosos, onde Melanie vai fazer um álbum de fotos das crianças da creche e Gretel vai plantar um pequeno jardim bonito com as pessoas de idade.

Nós temos uma longa história com o Centro. Desde que chegamos, tomamos o nosso almoço lá com as funcionárias que são super divertidas, dinâmicas e um pouco loucas :). Então, é uma hora cheia de boa comida - e que queríamos agradecer imensamente às melhores cozinheiras de Portugal, Berta e Jacinta - histórias divertidas, cusquices sobre os ricos e famosos, e bem, a tradição portuguesa de estarmos juntos no almoço. No centro incorporaram-nos também no seu trabalho e pensaram em algumas atividades com quais poderíamos ajudá-los, e assim tivemos um monte de diversão nos passeios na praia, cantamos canções para a Sardinhada, celebramos o Dia dos Avós no Santoinho, o Arraial Minhoto, fizemos corações de Viana, fazendo parte deste encontro intergeracional.
