Festa de São Pedro na AJD

June 28th we gathered to party few things at the AJD: we celebrated São Pedro, we inaugurated the AJD ecological garden and we celebrated the Gi's anniversary with a dinner with games and performances in our garden.
The party started around 5:30 p.m., after finishing the Summer Camp activities of that day, with music being plaied, traditional games and a facial painting workshop, while people were coming and the barbaques were being prepared.

At 7:00 p.m., the first sardines and the first fillets were already on the grill, while people were enjoying the football game of Portugal against Chile, the summer sun and the lemonades and fresh beers. As people were starting to feel hungry, they approached to the grills to receive their menu, consisting of two sardines, a fillet (or the vegetarian alternative, which was a Spanish omelette made by me - Àngel - with all my affection ), a caldo verde (traditional Portuguese soup) and a fruit salad as dessert.

When everyone was already with their food on the table (at around 9:00 p.m.), Gi and I gave a short speech about our main projects and tasks at AJD so that people could see our work here. Gi presented the art lessons and I explained the ecological garden project. When the performance ended (and after singing Congratulations to Gi), we had some special guests: the group Ás das cantigas, who came from Subportela with their concertinas (a tipical Portuguese music instrument) to delight us with their traditional songs and, after them, Ao Toque do Cavaquinho, the group of cavaquinhos from AJD, finished the night with some of their songs.

Overall, I think it was a very cool night where many of the people who have had some connection with AJD could be together. Everything went very well, and I think that the more than 70 people who came to celebrate São Pedro with us liked the party and had a good summer's night.

Na AJD estivemos em festa no dia 28 de junho: festejamos o São Pedro, inauguramos a horta ecológica da AJD e comemoramos o aniversário da Gi com um jantar de convívio e animação no nosso jardim.

A festa começou por volta das 17h30, após os campos de férias, com música, jogos tradicionais e uma oficina de pinturas faciais, entanto as pessoas estavam a chegar e as brasas se estavam a preparar.

Às 19h00 as primeiras sardinhas e as primeiras fevras já estavam no grelhador e as pessoas já começavam a desfrutar do jogo de futebol de Portugal contra Chile, do sol de verão e da limonada e cerveja fresquinha. Assim, à medida que as pessoas tinham fome aproximavam-se das brasas para receber o seu menu, composto por duas sardinhas, uma febra (ou a alternativa vegetariana, que era uma tortilha de batatas feita por mim – Àngel – com todo o meu carinho), um caldo verde e uma salada de frutas como sobremesa.

Quando toda a gente estava já com a sua comida na mesa, por volta das 21h00, a Gi e eu fizemos uma pequena apresentação sobre os nossos principais projetos e tarefas na AJD, para as pessoas perceberem o nosso trabalho aqui. A Gi apresentou as aulas de arte e eu a horta ecológica. Quando a apresentação acabou (e depois de cantar os parabéns à Gi), tivemos uns convidados especiais: o grupo Ás das cantigas, que veio desde Subportela com as suas concertinas para deliciar-nos com as suas canções tradicionais. A seguir, o grupo Ao Toque do Cavaquinho, o grupo de cavaquinhos da AJD, terminou a noite com algumas das suas músicas.

No geral, eu acho que foi uma noite muito fixe, onde conviveram muitas das pessoas que, de uma maneira ou outra, tem algum vínculo com a AJD. Correu tudo muito bem, e acho que as mais de 70 pessoas que vieram festejar o São Pedro connosco gostaram da festa e passaram uma boa noite de verão.
