The first week of Summer Camps, with
a topic of recycling, finished, and it gave its place to the second week,
dedicated to the folk traditions of the village of Deão.
On Monday, with the help of Sílvia's
grandfather, one of the few people who still knows how to make caroças in the village, we learned how to
make caroças, a dress made with reeds
that men and women wore in ancient times to protect themselves from wind and
rain. We were very surprised to see how complicated and meticulous this job is!
On Tuesday, after an orientation test
with a photographic raid through the streets of Deão,
the workshop of palmitos took place. Palmitos are kind of flowers made with
coloured papers and wax, used as decoration in the processions of the romeria.
On Wednesday we moved to Viana: in
the morning we went to play to the beach and in the afternoon we went to the Casa dos Nichos, an archaeology museum
in Viana do Castelo. We also made a peddy-paper around the city, organised by
the museum, where children remembered the life and traditions of people in antiquity
as they passed the oldest streets of the city.
On Thursday we visited one of the
last vacarias in the village, where
we learned the lifestyle and habits of our grandparents. It was very
interesting to see how the houses were organised so that people could have a
much more local and self-sufficient life than nowadays.
On the last day of the Summer Camp,
former students from the school where AJD is built came to the association to
tell us about what this space was like decades ago. They were very happy to see
that this place has a new life and it brings an added value to the local
community of Deão. In the afternoon, to close the
activities of the Summer Camp, we organised an activity with water called
Splash, where we made different games with water. Children loved it!
Na segunda-feira, com a ajuda do avô da
Sílvia, uma das pessoas que ainda sabe fazer caroças na aldeia, aprendemos a
fazer caroças, uns fatos feitos com junco que homens e mulheres usavam na
antiguidade para se protegerem do vento e da chuva. Ficamos muito surpreendidos
ao ver o complicado e meticuloso que é este trabalho!
Na quarta-feira ficamos em Viana: de manhã
fomos brincar para a praia e pela tarde fomos à Casa dos
Nichos, um museu de arqueologia de Viana do Castelo. Também aproveitamos
para fazer um peddy-paper pela cidade,
organizado pelo museu, onde as crianças relembraram a vida e as tradições das pessoas na antiguidade enquanto passavam pelas
ruas mais antigas da cidade.
No último dia dos Campos de Férias vieram
à AJD antigos alunos da escola, onde agora fica a associação, para nos falar sobre como era este espaço na antiguidade. Ficaram
muito felizes ao ver que agora o espaço tem uma nova vida e que traz um valor
acrescentado à comunidade local de Deão. Pela tarde, para fechar as atividades
do Campo de Férias, organizamos uma atividade com água chamada Splash, onde realizamos diferentes jogos
com água. Os miúdos adoraram!

A primeira semana dos Campos de Férias,
com a temática da reciclagem, já acabou, e cedeu o lugar à segunda semana,
dedicada às tradições populares da aldeia de Deão.
Na segunda-feira, com a ajuda do avô da

Na terça-feira, após uma prova de orientação com raid fotográfico pelas ruas de Deão, teve lugar a oficina
de palmitos, umas flores feitas com papéis coloridos e cera, usados como
decoração nas procissões da romeria.
