Since I knew that I was going back to Portugal, I decided to use this opportunity to learn Portuguese. I knew that I was going to take classes when I arrive so I was really motivated.
Firstly I started to study in the association although I soon had the chance to go to the Escola Monserrate and start some classes with more foreign students and I didn't hesitate going there.
The first classes were both fun and complicated at the same time. I met a lot of new people from many countries (Bangladesh, China, France, Italy, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Romania, Syria, Ukraine and Venezuela) with very different personal histories and it was very interesting to talk with them because of the cultural differences and also for the age difference.
However it was difficult for the teacher to give classes because of the differences of level, between us. There were people who have been living in Portugal for some years, others who did not, but our mother tongue had many similarities with Portuguese and lastly, people who were living here for a short time and their mother tongue had nothing to do with Portuguese.
But little by little all those problems were disappearing and right now we are a group of friends that we meet(that we meet, meeting) together to learn Portuguese.

Desde que soube que ia voltar para Portugal tinha claro que desta vez queria aproveitar a oportunidade e aprender português. Sabia que ia ter aulas para aprender e estava muito motivado.
No começo as aulas foram na associação, mas depois tive a oportunidade de ir para a Escola de Monserrate para começar algumas aulas com mais estudantes estrangeiros e… lá fui.
As primeiras aulas foram divertidas e complicadas ao mesmo tempo. Conheci muitas pessoas de muitos países (Bangladesh, China, França, Itália, Marrocos, Nepal, Paquistão, Roménia, Síria, Ucrânia e Venezuela), com diferentes histórias pessoais e foi muito interessante conversar com elas, para além das diferenças culturais e da diferença de idade.
Ao mesmo tempo era difícil para a professora organizar a aula, porque a diferença de nível entre nós era muito grande. Havia pessoas que viviam em Portugal há muito tempo, outros não, mas a nossa língua mãe guardava muitas semelhanças com o Português, e finalmente as pessoas que estão cá há pouco tempo a morar, cuja língua materna é muito diferente do Português.
Mas gradualmente todos esses problemas foram desaparecendo e agora somos um grupo de amigos que se reúnem para aprender Português.
