FINALISTAS!

While Gretel was baking cakes and decorating Viana hearts with the elderly people in the day center of the CSPD, I (Melanie) spent my time with the nursery children, taking pictures and recording videos, in order to present them to the parents at the End of the Year Party.

I had a great time working there, playing and joking around with the children – although it isn’t always easy to take photos of such rapidly moving kids!

When the end of the school semester arrived and it was time for the 3-year-olds to “graduate” to kindergarten, a big party was held at the center. Educators, parents and children were dressed to impress, with little bow ties and complicated hair-dos. Inflatable jumping castles and yummy finger food were presented after a ceremony that included live music performed by the little "finalists", graduating hats and canes, and the delivery of small gifts. At night, balloons were released into the sunset, to the tune of Disney’s Tangled, and the video and slideshow that I had worked on were shown on a big projector. 

All in all, I think the party was a big success!

Enquanto a Gretel estava a assar bolos e a decorar corações de Viana com os idosos no Lar do CSPD, eu (Melanie) gastei o meu tempo com as crianças da creche, a tirar fotos e a gravar vídeos, com o fim de apresentá-los aos pais na festa do final do ano.

Eu tive ótimos momentos neste trabalho na creche, brincando e fazendo piadas com as crianças - ainda que nem sempre é fácil de tirar fotos de crianças movendo-se tão rapidamente!

Quando o final do ano letivo chegou e foi tempo de as crianças de 3 anos se "graduarem" para o jardim de infância, uma grande festa foi realizada no centro. Educadores, pais e filhos, estavam vestidos com elegância, com pequenos laços e penteados complicados. Insufláveis e aperitivos saborosos foram apresentados depois de uma cerimónia que incluiu músicas cantadas pelas crianças, chapéus de “graduação” e a entrega de pequenos presentes. À noite, balões foram lançados no pôr do sol, ao som de Rapunzel de Disney, e o vídeo e slideshow que eu tinha feito foram apresentados num grande projetor. 

Resumindo, eu acho que a festa foi um grande sucesso!
