The month of May was dedicated to teaching children's rights to the kids that frequent the AJD's after school program at the Ludoteca. It's been years that Bibi has been performing activities related to this topic with the children, and this year she asked us to expand the theme over a whole month and produce a video for the International Children's Day on June 1st.
On every Friday of the month we would gather the kids together and through talks, videos and discussions, as well as interactive and educational games, we explained and explored the concept of children's rights. This was our first big project with activities designed and led by us, putting our newly acquired Portuguese skills to the test! It was also an opportunity to try out different pedagogical techniques and get to know the working dynamics at the Ludoteca. Additionally, it allowed Melanie to apply her own filmmaking knowledge, because the result of this hard work and education was going to be a short video about Children's Rights, presented on June 1st. To celebrate the International Children's Day, we invited the kids of Deao and their parents and had a small lanche with snacks, cakes and home-made lemonade. The main attraction however was the bouncy castles, provided by the National Agency of FAJUVIC, that the children were so fascinated with that we could hardly get them away from them at the end of the day.
O mês de maio foi dedicado ao ensino dos direitos das crianças àquelas que frequentam a AJD depois das aulas. Há anos que a Bibi vai exercendo atividades relacionadas com este tema com as crianças na Ludoteca e este ano ela propôs a expansão do tema ao longo de um mês, terminando com um vídeo no dia 1 de junho, Dia Internacional da Criança.
Todas as sextas-feiras de maio nós reuníamos as crianças e através de conversas, vídeos, atividades interativas e jogos educativos, explicamos o conceito de direitos da criança. Este foi o primeiro grande projeto que concebemos e liderámos, e no qual pusemos os nossos dotes de português à prova! Também foi uma oportunidade para experimentar várias vertentes pedagógicas e perceber as dinâmicas de trabalho da AJD. Além disso, o projeto permitiu à Melanie pôr em prática o seu conhecimento e produzir um vídeo sobre a reflexão deste tema pelas crianças, a fim de mostrá-lo no dia 1 de junho. Nesta data, convidámos os pais das crianças e tivemos um pequeno lanche com snacks, bolos e limonada caseira. No entanto, a principal atração do dia foram os insufláveis, cedidos pela FAJUVIC , com os quais as crianças ficaram fascinadas e dos quais nos custou a afastá-las no final do dia.
