ENGLISH CLASSES

It's been close to seven months since we arrived in Portugal. We came to a new country, a new culture with a completely new language that we had to learn and adapt to. It was very hard for us in the first few weeks and months because we couldn't manage to get our point across in Portuguese and very few people speak English here. Thus, we have come up with a (hopefully sustainable) solution for volunteers to come and make their integration within the AJD easier. You're welcome ;).

So, since the end of September we are carrying out English classes in the Ludoteca, twice per week for primary and secondary school children and once per week for adults. They love being active and participative in the new language. Thanks to our lovely and freakishly creative and talented new volunteer, the goddess of DIY - Natalia - we can surprise the kids with really out-of-the-box activities, games and worksheets during the classes - check out that "English wardrobe" she handcrafted. Oh, and guess who came up with the idea for that fashionable crown for "best student of the week"?!

Passaram quase sete meses desde que chegamos a Portugal. Viemos para um novo país, uma nova cultura com uma língua completamente nova que tivemos que aprender e adaptar-nos. Foi muito difícil para nós nas primeiras semanas e meses, porque não conseguimos transmitir os nossos pontos de vista em Português e poucas pessoas falam inglês aqui. Assim, encontramos uma solução (esperamos que também sustentável) para facilitar a integração dos futuros voluntários que vierem fazer voluntariado na AJD. Tu és bem-vindo ;).

Então, desde o final de setembro, estamos a realizar oficinas de Inglês na Ludoteca, duas vezes por semana, para o primeiro, segundo e terceiro ciclo, e uma vez por semana para os adultos. Eles adoram ser ativos e participativos neste novo idioma. Graças à nossa nova adorável e extremamente criativa e talentosa voluntária, a deusa do DIY Natalia, podemos surpreender as crianças durante as aulas com muitas atividades "fora da caixa", jogos e folhas de trabalho - olha este "guarda-roupa Inglês" que ela confecionou. Ah, e adivinhem a quem apareceu a ideia desta coroa chique para nomear o melhor aluno da aula da semana?!
